The most local airport is Bergerac, situated right in the heart of the Dordogne. Regular flights are available from Southampton, Stansted and Birmingham, and new routes are expected later in 2006.

The area is also well served by an international airport in Toulouse and there is an autoroute from the airport to Cahors. The TGV train service is also connected to Toulouse. Bordeaux airport is also available (though less well served than Toulouse) and allows easy access to the Southern Dordogne region. Flight times from the UK are between 1.5-2 hours.

When travelling by road from the Channel Tunnel and northern ports it is best to head south for Orléans where the A71 picks up the new A20 autoroute at Vierzon. This follows the old N20 to the Cahors region and is fast and efficient.
